Enhancing Your Summer Body with Kybella & PCDC

May 19, 2025

As summer approaches and the beach beckons, many of us start thinking about how we can feel our best in swimwear. At Selah Aesthetics and Wellness in Columbus, GA, we understand that achieving your summer body goals is about more than just exercise and diet; it's about feeling confident and comfortable in your skin. That’s why we offer cutting-edge treatments like Kybella and PCDC, designed to help you achieve your desired body contours. Read on to discover how these innovative procedures can help you sculpt and define your silhouette for the summer season.

Understanding Kybella: A Non-Surgical Solution to Submental Fullness

Kybella is a revolutionary non-surgical treatment specifically designed to tackle submental fullness, commonly known as a double chin. Made from deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat, Kybella offers a targeted approach to fat reduction.

When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction of fullness and leading to a more sculpted and defined jawline. Treatment sessions are quick, typically lasting 15-20 minutes, and are spaced about a month apart. Most patients require 2 to 4 sessions to achieve optimal results.

Exploring PCDC for Enhanced Body Contouring

While Kybella is ideal for smaller areas like under the chin, PCDC (Phosphatidylcholine and Deoxycholate) is perfect for larger body areas. Whether you’re looking to contour your abdomen, thighs, or flanks, PCDC offers a non-surgical solution to dissolving fat.

PCDC works by disrupting fat cell membranes, allowing the body to naturally eliminate the broken-down cells. The treatment is minimally invasive and can be customized to target specific problem areas, helping you achieve a more toned and defined physique.

Why Choose Kybella and PCDC?

1. Non-Surgical: Both Kybella and PCDC are non-surgical, meaning there's no need for invasive procedures or prolonged recovery times. This makes them an attractive option for individuals seeking minimal downtime.

2. Effective and Targeted: These treatments are designed to specifically target and reduce stubborn fat deposits that may not respond well to diet and exercise alone.

3. Confidence-Boosting: As these treatments are effective in reducing fat and improving contour, they can significantly boost your confidence, helping you feel summer-ready.

What to Expect: The Treatment Process

Before undergoing any treatment, it's important to have a consultation with our skilled professionals at Selah Aesthetics and Wellness. During this consultation, we'll discuss your goals, assess your problem areas, and determine the best course of action.

Kybella Treatment Process:

- Consultation and Planning: Discuss your goals and evaluate the chin area.

- Injection Procedure: The treatment involves a series of small injections underneath the chin.

- Post-Treatment Care: You may experience some swelling, bruising, or numbness, which typically subsides within a week.

PCDC Treatment Process:

- Consultation and Assessment: Identify target areas for fat reduction.

- Injection Procedure: Targeted injections into areas such as the abdomen or thighs.

- Post-Treatment Recovery: Like Kybella, slight swelling or redness is normal and temporary.

Optimizing Results: Post-Treatment Care

To maximize the results of your Kybella and PCDC treatments, it’s crucial to follow post-treatment care instructions. Avoid strenuous activities for a few days and apply ice as needed to reduce swelling. Additionally, staying hydrated and maintaining a healthy diet can support the body’s natural elimination of fat cells.

Is Kybella & PCDC Right for You?

These treatments are suitable for individuals who are close to their ideal body weight but struggle with small to moderate amounts of excess fat in certain areas. They are not weight-loss solutions but are perfect for patients seeking to improve specific body contours.

You’ve been told you have a thyroid issue. Maybe it was after months of fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, or feeling like a stranger in your own body. You were prescribed thyroid medication, maybe Synthroid or levothyroxine, and told, “This should fix it.” But here’s the thing: you still don’t feel like yourself. And you’re not alone. At our practice, we meet patients every week who are technically “treated” for hypothyroidism—but still feel exhausted, foggy, bloated, and completely out of sync. If that’s you, let’s talk about what might be going on, and what you can do about it. You’re Not Crazy. You’re in the Tired Thyroid Trap. The most common medications for hypothyroidism contain T4 , the inactive form of thyroid hormone. The idea is that your body will convert T4 into T3 , the active hormone that fuels your metabolism, energy, mood, and more. But here’s the catch: that conversion doesn’t always happen smoothly. And if you’re only being treated with T4 (like Synthroid or levothyroxine), but your body can’t convert it properly? You’ll still feel off, even if your labs look “normal.” So, What Blocks T4 → T3 Conversion? A few common culprits: Chronic stress (hello, elevated cortisol) Inflammation and autoimmune activity Nutrient deficiencies (especially selenium, zinc, and iron) Gut imbalances that impair absorption and conversion Liver dysfunction (your liver plays a huge role in this process) Excess reverse T3 , which “blocks” the good stuff from working In short, it’s not just about having enough hormones. It’s about what your body can do with it. Why “Normal” Labs Don’t Always Mean Optimal Function Most conventional testing only checks TSH —your brain’s signal that tells your thyroid to get to work. But this doesn’t show us whether your body is effectively producing or converting hormones, or how your cells are actually responding to them. At our clinic, we run comprehensive thyroid panels that include: TSH Free T3 Free T4 Reverse T3 TPO and TG antibodies (to screen for Hashimoto’s) Nutrient markers that support thyroid function This gives us a much fuller picture—and helps us understand why you might still be feeling off, even on medication. So What Do You Do If This Is You? If you’re in the “I’m on meds but still feel terrible” camp, here’s the good news: there are options. And they don’t all involve increasing your dose. In our practice, we help patients: Identify and remove conversion blockers (stress, gut imbalances, toxins, inflammation) Support their adrenals and nervous system (you can’t out-supplement chronic stress) Optimize nutrients like iron, selenium, and B vitamins Explore different medication options , including combination therapy with T3 when appropriate Look at the full hormone picture , including sex hormones and insulin resistance, which often play a role The result? A personalized plan that supports your thyroid and the rest of your body—and helps you feel like yourself again. The Bottom Line If you’re doing everything “right” but still feel tired, foggy, or stuck in a body that doesn’t feel like your own, it’s time to dig deeper. Your thyroid is part of a complex, interconnected system—and treating it takes more than just hitting a number on a lab report. You deserve care that listens, investigates, and helps you heal from the inside out. We’re here for that. Want to take a closer look at your thyroid health? Book your consultation today and let’s get to the root of what’s really going on.

If you're working on improving your metabolism, energy, recovery, or skin—and feel like the usual approaches just aren’t cutting it—you’re not alone. More and more people are turning to peptide therapy as a way to support their body’s natural healing, hormone production, and repair processes from the inside out. Peptides are one of the most exciting tools in functional and regenerative medicine. They’re subtle, science-backed, and designed to help your body do what it’s naturally wired to do—just more efficiently. What Are Peptides? Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as messengers in the body . They send signals to your cells to perform specific tasks—like producing growth hormone, reducing inflammation, healing tissue, stimulating libido, or building collagen. Many of these peptides occur naturally in your body, but levels often decline with age, stress, or illness. Supplementing with peptides gives your body a gentle, targeted push to support function, repair, and optimization—without overcorrecting or shutting down natural processes. Why We Use Peptide Therapy in Functional & Aesthetic Care Peptides are precise, customizable, and versatile. We use them to support a wide range of goals, including: Fat loss and body composition Lean muscle support Sleep and recovery Hormone balance and graceful aging Injury repair and inflammation reduction Cognitive clarity and stress resilience Sexual wellness Skin and hair rejuvenation Immune and gut support They pair beautifully with hormone therapy, nutrition, GLP-1 support, and aesthetic treatments—making them a cornerstone of integrative, whole-body care. Categories of Peptides and What They Do Growth Hormone–Stimulating Peptides These peptides stimulate your body’s natural production of growth hormone, which supports fat metabolism, lean muscle maintenance, cellular repair, and deep sleep. Ipamorelin + CJC-1295 – A widely used combination for metabolism, recovery, and anti-aging Tesamorelin – Targets visceral fat and supports insulin sensitivity Sermorelin – Great foundational support for energy, metabolism, and hormone signaling AOD-9604 – A GH fragment that supports fat metabolism without increasing GH levels These are commonly used in weight loss, body composition, and longevity plans. Repair & Recovery Peptides These peptides are favored for tissue regeneration, injury healing, gut support, and inflammation reduction. Often used in performance optimization, post-surgical recovery, or for clients with chronic pain or GI dysfunction. BPC-157 – Supports soft tissue healing, gut repair, and inflammation regulation TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4) – Enhances recovery, especially for muscle, tendons, and ligaments Used alone or together, these peptides help support your body’s natural healing mechanisms. Immune-Modulating & Anti-Inflammatory Peptides These peptides help regulate immune function, inflammation, and resilience. Often used in chronic illness, autoimmunity, long-haul viral recovery, or when the body needs immune balance. Thymosin Alpha-1 – Modulates immune response and promotes immune surveillance LL-37 – A broad-spectrum antimicrobial that supports chronic infection protocols and biofilm disruption These are often used in conjunction with gut, adrenal, and detox support. Cognitive & Mood-Supportive Peptides These nootropic peptides are used for stress reduction, focus, mental clarity, and neurological resilience. Selank – Supports anxiety reduction and stress resilience Semax – Improves focus, memory, and cognitive function under stress Epitalon – A longevity peptide that supports melatonin, sleep, and cellular aging These are helpful in protocols focused on burnout, brain fog, performance, and aging. Sexual Wellness Peptide PT-141 (Bremelanotide) – Works at the brain level to support desire and arousal (for men and women). A great addition to libido and sexual wellness protocols, especially when paired with hormone optimization. Skin, Hair & Aesthetic Support Peptides GHK-Cu – A copper peptide used for skin rejuvenation, collagen support, and wound healing. Applied topically or injected in aesthetic protocols for natural, regenerative results. These peptides often complement microneedling, exosome therapy, and other regenerative aesthetics. What to Expect with Peptide Therapy Most peptides are administered via tiny subcutaneous injections (some are available as nasal sprays or topical solutions) Protocols typically run 6–12 weeks. Some effects are felt quickly (like better sleep or libido), while others build gradually (like fat loss or skin texture) Peptides are well tolerated and are often used long-term in cycling or maintenance phases. Our Philosophy on Peptides We view peptides as part of a growing, versatile toolkit that can be adapted to your goals, phase of life, and health status. Whether you’re recovering from stress, supporting aging, improving performance, or enhancing your glow—they offer precision support without the intensity of traditional medications. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all protocols. The best peptide plan starts with a conversation, a clear understanding of your goals, and a personalized approach to dosing and follow-up.

I often find my clients haven’t heard about metabolic flexibility or rather inflexibility! When this is the case, it means your body struggles to switch between burning carbs and fat for fuel, keeping you stuck in an energy rollercoaster and making it harder to maintain a healthy weight. What is Metabolic Flexibility? Metabolic flexibility is your body’s ability to adapt its fuel source based on what’s available—switching seamlessly between glucose (from carbs) and stored fat for energy. When your metabolism is flexible, you: Have steady, all-day energy Burn fat efficiently Maintain stable blood sugar levels Adapt easily to different eating patterns However, if you’re metabolically inflexible , you might experience: Blood sugar crashes and cravings Brain fog and energy dips Difficulty losing weight Increased risk of insulin resistance Your body should naturally shift between burning carbs and fat. If it can’t, it’s time to retrain your metabolism. Why Metabolic Flexibility is Essential When your body efficiently switches between carbs and fat for fuel, you gain major health benefits: 1. More Energy, Less Fatigue No more energy crashes after meals or feeling like you “need” sugar to get through the day. A flexible metabolism keeps you fueled and focused, no matter what. 2. Easier Fat Burning & Weight Management When your body relies too much on glucose, it struggles to burn fat. Improving metabolic flexibility teaches your body to access stored fat for energy , making weight loss easier and more sustainable. 3. Improved Blood Sugar & Insulin Sensitivity A flexible metabolism helps control blood sugar and lowers the risk of insulin resistance, diabetes, and inflammation —key factors in long-term metabolic health. 4. Freedom from Constant Hunger & Cravings When your body can efficiently burn fat for energy, you don’t feel hangry every few hours. You can go longer between meals without feeling weak or foggy. How to Improve Your Metabolic Flexibility If you feel stuck in energy crashes, weight plateaus, or metabolic dysfunction , here’s how to retrain your body: 1. Eat to Support Flexibility Protein first – Helps stabilize blood sugar and supports muscle mass. Healthy fats – Promotes fat oxidation and keeps you satisfied. Smart carbs – Choose fiber-rich carbs to prevent blood sugar spikes. 2. Improve Insulin Sensitivity GLP-1 receptor agonists (like semaglutide or tirzepatide) help regulate blood sugar and curb glucose fluctuations. Metformin improves insulin sensitivity and metabolic function. Supplements like berberine, inositol, and magnesium support blood sugar balance naturally. 3. Strength Train & Move More Building muscle improves insulin sensitivity and helps your body burn fat more efficiently. Try: Strength training at least 2-3 times per week. Walking after meals to help regulate glucose. HIIT or resistance workouts to enhance metabolic flexibility. 4. Play with Meal Timing & Fasting Extend your overnight fast to 12-14 hours to encourage fat burning. Avoid late-night eating , which can interfere with metabolism. Try occasional fasting if your body responds well to it. 5. Prioritize Sleep & Stress Management Lack of sleep and chronic stress increase cortisol and insulin resistance , making it harder to burn fat. Support your metabolism by: Keeping a consistent sleep schedule . Using stress-reducing techniques like deep breathing or journaling. Supplementing with magnesium and adaptogens to support relaxation. You’ve Got This! Metabolic flexibility is the foundation of a healthy metabolism . When your body can seamlessly switch between carbs and fat for fuel, you’ll have steady energy, better blood sugar control, and improved fat metabolism —all while reducing the risk of chronic disease. If you feel stuck in metabolic dysfunction , we can help you assess your metabolic health and build a customized plan to optimize nutrition, movement, and hormone support for long-term success.
